SABLE ~ POODLE ~ FEMALE ~ DOB 8/24/12 ~ ADOPTABLE
January 2018: Sable has arrived at the rescue! She is beautiful, but very nervous and afraid. She has no idea how wonderful her new life will be, but we know she is going to love it.
February 2018: Sable has come a long way in a very short time. Stay tuned for more photos of this beautiful girl!
March 2018: Sable looks totally different after her day of beauty. Check out the before and after photo below. Look at those eyes! She enjoys lounging on the back of the couch, watching her canine friends playing. She is still timid, but doesn't mind at all if you want a snuggle!
May 2018: Sweet Sable is very slowly coming out of her shell. We see small signs of progress, and continue to reassure and encourage her as she adjusts to freedom at her own pace.
JULY 2018: Quiet, shy Sable is gaining confidence, slowly, but surely. She is still nervous, but we see the signs that she is beginning to believe that we can be trusted. It takes a lot of time and patience, and she is worth every minute of it.
JANUARY 2019: Progress with Sable is slow. We continue to work with her to help her build her confidence.
MAY 2019: Sable continues to make progress, one small step at a time. We are encouraged by each little step. She LOVES being outside with the rest of the crew. Occasionally she will leave her comfort zone and join a volunteer on the couch for petting, we especially love that!
JULY 2019: Sable continues to make progress. She is still timid, but we can see that she is becoming more comfortable and seems to want attention, but just can't bring herself to make the first move. She remains calm if approached and enjoys being petted, which we all love! Sable will soon be available for adoption. If you want to meet her, please contact us to arrange a meeting at the rescue.
NOVEMBER 2019: Sable has returned to rehab for medical evaluation.
JANUARY 2020: Sable began experiencing seizure activity in November. She has been placed on phenobarbital and is doing very well. She is available for adoption. She needs a quiet environment with someone who will allow her to move forward on her terms. She will allow pets from humans, however, she does not initiate contact. Sable would enjoy a safe, secure environment to live out the remainder of her life.
Sable has been fully vetted, which includes microchip, spay, dental, and vaccinations. She also takes phenobarbital twice daily to control seizure activity. She will need a home with a fenced yard and no small children. She gets along well with dogs her size.
Sable's medical expenses as of 12/31/2019 are $1102. Sable's adoption fee is $250.
Home visit required, so you must live within a 1 1/2 hour drive of Belton, MO.
If you are interested in meeting Sable, please fill out the on-line application which can be found under the Adoption Information tab.
