Beau Yorkshire Terrier DOB 10/23/06 Available now to just the right person!
Beau is a very handsome little man! His rehabilitation is progressing well and he has decided there is a very big world out there that needs to be explored. At first, he was pretty unsure of all of that space outside of his kennel which meant his first exploration expeditions were mostly short and pasted to the floor for safety. Beau is learning that both people and the world are full of fun stuff and he has recently decided he loves the great outdoors and cannot wait for one of the volunteers to take him out there!
Beau thinks this "house pet" lifestyle is actually a pretty good deal after all and oh so much better than his last "home"!
If you would like to help Beau, please consider becoming his sponsor through our FRESH START Sponsorship program. You can find out more information about this program at our "How to Help" tab then clicking "Donations." Thank you!
Beau's story -
Beau came to Missouri Puppy Mill Rescue October 29, 2016. He was a retired breeding dog.
Beau is a sweet spirit who enjoys being with other small breed dogs. He also loves lots of belly rubs from his people!
Beau is crate trained and we are currently working on his house training. He does well when let out for frequent potty breaks but he may always be prone to indoor accidents. We would like to find him a family that can understand this challenge and will be willing to continue to work with him and accept that he may always have a few accidents indoors. Beau will reward his new family with lots of love as he is quite the snuggle bug!
28 November 2016: Beau had his photo taken by a real photographer today! Beau was not too sure of what to think of this nice lady and her camera but he was a very good sport for her. Good boy, Beau!
7 January 2017: Beau is currently under medical observation and is not available for adoption.
5 February 2017: It has been discovered Beau had low thyroid levels which seems to be under control with daily medication which he takes like a champ! He has been released from medical care and is available for adoption!
26 March 2017: Beau has become quite the character...he has mastered the doggie door to the back deck and loves spending time out there soaking up the rays! Not only does he soak up the rays though....it's not unusual to catch him doing laps around the deck! The funny thing is...he stops if he knows anyone is watching!! He has such a sweet spirit...he initiates play at times with the other dogs and enjoys the company of other dogs. In fact, he gains his confidence by being around other dogs. His ideal home will be a home with a similar in size doggie brother or sister that he can interact with. Do you have a small breed dog looking for a friend? If so, Beau may be the right match for you!
April 2017: We have determined Beau would be best suited in a home without small children. He gets anxious around them. Beau needs a quiet, calm lifestyle to live out his remaining senior years. He will also require a fenced yard. MPMR adopts to families within a 1 1/2 hour drive from Belton MO.
May 2018: Our sweet senior gentleman is ready for his forever home. He would love to have a canine companion to share a cozy bed or a warm place in the sun. His rescue buddies appreciate his maturity and wisdom and he is never without a fan or two by his side.
Beau will need a home with a fenced yard and no small children. A quiet calm lifestyle will be best suited for this sweet guy. He gets along great with dogs his size. His family must be willing to continue his daily medication which includes a thyroid pill and a kidney supplement. His adoption fee is $200. He is fully vetted, which includes dental, neuter, microchip and vaccinations.
Home visit required so you must live within a 1 1/2 hour drive of Belton MO
